Indian Americans: The Rising Economic Power
Indian Americans continue to make steady inroads into the American mainstream. Recently, Bobby Jindal was sworn in as the youngest U.S. governor, while Vikram Pandit's appointment to CEO of Citigroup has added him to the ranks of Indra Nooyi (CEO, PepsiCo.). Indian Americans over-index the U.S. population with education (57% graduates), managerial/professional occupations and income (average AHI $88,000), and are among the most attractive demographics. www.rediff.com (NASDAQ-REDF), India's leading portal provides access to this online-savvy demographic through engaging online content, products and cutting edge advertising technologies such as behavioral, contextual & geo-targeting. Advertisers like Citibank, HSBC, Wells Fargo, State Farm, MetLife, Wal-Mart, McDonald's, Jaguar, Vonage, Netflix, and Air France have benefited from regular online campaigns. BLACKHISTORY.COM: New Platform for Advertisers to Reach the African American Market
Two entrepreneurs, William Moss (founder of HBCU.com) and Dante Lee (founder of BlackNews.com), have come together to launch BlackHistory.com, a free online encyclopedia featuring information, pictures and video content about African American accomplishments. Divided into five major categories (people, places, events, terms and organizations) the site is meant to encourage the public to contribute to, and connect with, Black History. The site is also a social networking platform that allows African American visitors to chronicle their own contributions to Black History and to connect in a way like never before. Members can interact with each other and post profiles, pictures, and even historyrelated content. There is no other website that is both an encyclopedia and also a reference portal and social networking site. With BlackHistory.com, Black History is celebrated all year long, not just during one month of the year. Moss comments, "BlackHistory.com is a valuable asset to students and professionals looking to conduct research, but also to advertisers who want to show their strong support for Black History month." After generating millions in revenue from their network of web sites, Lee and Moss were able to acquire BlackHistory.com for an undisclosed amount in September 2007, and immediately began working to transform it into a valuable resource. They then formed a new company, Lee Moss Media, as an umbrella for the site. "We expect BlackHistory.com to be very huge, attracting millions of visitors this year," says Lee. "This is bigger than anything we've ever done." For more information contact Brittany Davis, brittany@diversitycity.com, 614-416-5522. Visit www.BlackHistory.com.
